1
And Yericho was shut up and closed because of the sons of Yisra’el. None went out, and none came in.
2
And Yahuah said to Yehoshua, “See, I have given Yericho into your hand, and its king, and the mighty men of strength.
3
And you shall go around the city, all the men of war, circling the city one time. Thus you shall do six days.
4
And seven kohenim shall carry seven shofarot of rams before the ark. And on the seventh day you shall go around the city seven times, and the kohenim shall blow with the shofarot.
5
And it shall be, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, when you hear the sound of the shofar, all the people shall shout with a great shout, and the wall of the city shall fall beneath itself. And the people shall go up, each ish straight before his face.”
6
And Yehoshua son of Nun called the kohenim and said to them, “Lift up the ark of the covenant, and let seven kohenim carry seven shofarot of rams before the ark of Yahuah.”
7
And he said to the people, “Pass over and go around the city, and let the armed ones pass before the ark of Yahuah.”
8
And it came to pass, when Yehoshua had spoken to the people, that the seven kohenim carrying the seven shofarot of rams before Yahuah passed over and blew with the shofarot, and the ark of the covenant of Yahuah went after them.
9
And the armed ones went before the kohenim who blew the shofarot, and the rear guard went after the ark, walking and blowing with the shofarot.
10
And Yehoshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout, and you shall not cause your voice to be heard, and no word shall go out from your mouth until the day I say to you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout.”
11
And he caused the ark of Yahuah to go around the city, circling it one time. And they came into the camp and lodged in the camp.
12
And Yehoshua rose early in the morning, and the kohenim lifted up the ark of Yahuah.
13
And the seven kohenim carrying the seven shofarot of rams before the ark of Yahuah went on continually and blew with the shofarot. And the armed ones went before their face, and the rear guard went after the ark of Yahuah, walking and blowing with the shofarot.
14
And on the second day they went around the city one time and returned to the camp. Thus they did six days.
15
And it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, at the rising of dawn, and went around the city according to this judgment seven times. Only on that day they went around the city seven times.
16
And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the kohenim blew with the shofarot, that Yehoshua said to the people, “Shout! For Yahuah has given you the city.
17
And the city shall be devoted to destruction, it and all that is in it, to Yahuah. Only Rachav the prostitute shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers whom we sent.
18
But as for you, guard yourselves from what is devoted to destruction, lest you yourselves become devoted to destruction when you take from what is devoted, and cause the camp of Yisra’el to become devoted to destruction and bring trouble upon it.
19
And all the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron are holy to Yahuah. Into the treasury of Yahuah they shall come.”
20
And the people shouted, and they blew with the shofarot. And it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the shofar, that the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell beneath itself. And the people went up into the city, each ish straight before his face, and they captured the city.
21
And they devoted to destruction all that was in the city, from ish to ishah, from young to old, and ox, and sheep, and donkey, with the mouth of the sword.
22
And to the two men who had searched out the land Yehoshua said, “Go into the house of the ishah, the prostitute, and bring out from there the ishah and all who belong to her, according to what you swore to her.”
23
And the young men, the spies, went in and brought out Rachav, and her father, and her mother, and her brothers, and all who belonged to her. And all her family they brought out, and they placed them outside the camp of Yisra’el.
24
And the city and all that was in it they burned with fire. Only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of bronze and iron they gave into the treasury of the house of Yahuah.
25
And Rachav the prostitute, and the house of her father, and all who belonged to her, Yehoshua kept alive. And she dwelt in the midst of Yisra’el to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Yehoshua sent to search out Yericho.
26
And Yehoshua caused an oath to be sworn at that time, saying, “Cursed before Yahuah is the ish who rises and builds this city, Yericho. With his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and with his youngest he shall raise up its gates.”
27
And Yahuah was with Yehoshua, and his report went throughout all the land.
