6:1
And when the tumult of the men who were around the council had ceased, Holofernes, the chief captain of the army of Ashshur, said to Achior before all the mixed multitude and before all the sons of Moav:
6:2
“Who are you, Achior, and you hired men of Ephrayim, that you have prophesied among us today and said that we should not make war against the people of Yisra’el because their Elohim will defend them? And who is Elohim except Nevukhadnetzar?
6:3
He will send his power and destroy them from the face of the earth, and their Elohim shall not deliver them. But we, his servants, shall strike them as one ish. And they shall not stand against the power of our horses.
6:4
For with them we shall trample them down, and their mountains shall become drunk with their blood, and their fields shall be filled with their dead. And their footsteps shall not stand before us, but perishing, they shall surely perish,” says King Nevukhadnetzar, master of all the earth. “For he has spoken, and none of his words shall fall.
6:5
But you, Achior, a hired man of Ammon, who have spoken these words in the day of your crookedness, you shall see my face no more from this day until I take vengeance upon this nation that came out from Mitsrayim.
6:6
And then the iron of my army and the spear of my servants shall pass through your sides, and you shall fall among their wounded when I return.
6:7
My servants shall now take you into the hill country and set you near one of the cities of the ascents.
6:8
And you shall not perish until you are destroyed together with them.
6:9
And if you persuade yourself in your heart that they shall not be taken, do not let your face fall. I have spoken, and none of my words shall be empty.”
6:10
Then Holofernes commanded his servants, who were attending him in his tent, to seize Achior, carry him to Beit-Uluyah, and deliver him into the hands of the sons of Yisra’el.
6:11
So his servants seized him and carried him out of the camp into the plain. And from the middle of the plain they went into the hill country and came to the springs that were beneath Beit-Uluyah.
6:12
And when the men of the city saw them upon the summit of the mountain, they took up their weapons and went outside the city toward the summit of the mountain. And every ish who used a sling kept them from ascending by casting stones against them.
6:13
So they slipped beneath the mountain, bound Achior, left him lying at the foot of the mountain, and returned to their master.
6:14
Then the sons of Yisra’el came down from their city, stood over him, loosed him, and brought him into Beit-Uluyah. And they set him before the rulers of their city.
6:15
And in those days the rulers were: Uzziah son of Mikhah, of the tribe of Shim’on, and Chavri son of Othni’el, and Karmi son of Malki’el.
6:16
And they called together all the elders of the city. And all their young men and their women ran together to the assembly. And they set Achior in the midst of all the people. Then Uzziah asked him what had happened.
6:17
And he answered and declared to them the words of the council of Holofernes, and all the words which he had spoken in the midst of the rulers of the sons of Ashshur, and all the great things Holofernes had spoken against the house of Yisra’el.
6:18
Then the people fell down and worshiped Elohim, and cried out, saying:
6:19
“Yahuah Elohim of the heavens, look upon their pride and show favor to the humiliation of our nation, and look upon the face of those set apart to You this day.”
6:20
Then they comforted Achior and praised him greatly.
6:21
And Uzziah took him from the assembly into his house and made a feast for the elders. And they called upon the Elohim of Yisra’el for help all that night.
