9:1
And Yehudit fell upon her face, put ashes upon her head, and uncovered the sackcloth with which she was clothed. And at the time when the incense of that evening was being offered in the House of Elohim in Yerushalayim, Yehudit cried out to Yahuah with a great voice and said:
9:2
“Yahuah, Elohim of my father Shim’on, into whose hand You gave a sword to take vengeance upon the foreigners who loosened the girdle of a virgin to defile her, and uncovered her thigh to shame her, and profaned her womb to her reproach. For You said: ‘It shall not be so.’ Yet they did it.
9:3
Therefore You gave their rulers to slaughter, and their bed, which was ashamed of their deception, to blood, and You struck servants with rulers and rulers upon their thrones.
9:4
And You gave their women for plunder, and their daughters for captivity, and all their spoil to be divided among Your beloved sons, who were moved with zeal for You and abhorred the pollution of their blood and called upon You for help. O Elohim, my Elohim, hear me also, a widow.
9:5
For You have done the former things, and these things, and the things that shall come after. And You have devised the things that are now and the things that are to come. And what You determined stood before You.
9:6
The things You purposed appeared and said: ‘See, we are here.’ For all Your ways are prepared, and Your Judgment is in foreknowledge.
9:7
For see, the Ashshurim are multiplied in their power. They are exalted with horse and rider. They boast in the arm of infantry. They trust in shield and spear, in bow and sling. And they do not know that You are Yahuah who breaks wars.
9:8
Yahuah is Your Name. Break their strength by Your Power, and bring down their might in Your wrath. For they have purposed to profane Your Sanctuary, and to defile the dwelling where Your glorious Name rests, and to cast down with iron the horn of Your altar.
9:9
See their pride. Send Your wrath upon their heads. Give into my hand, a widow, the strength which I have conceived.
9:10
Strike the servant through the lips of my deception, and the ruler through the hand of his servant. Break their arrogance by the hand of an ishah.
9:11
For Your Power does not stand in multitude, nor Your strength in mighty men. But You are Elohim of the lowly, helper of the oppressed, support of the weak, protector of the forsaken, savior of those without hope.
9:12
Yes, yes, Elohim of my father, and Elohim of the Inheritance of Yisra’el, Master of the heavens and the earth, Creator of the waters, King of all Your creation— hear my petition.
9:13
And give me a deceptive word for their wound and bruise, against those who have purposed cruel things against Your Covenant, and Your Sanctified House, and the height of Tziyon, and the house possessed by Your sons.
9:14
And make all Your nation and every tribe know that You are Elohim, the Elohim of all power and might, and that there is none who protects the people of Yisra’el except You.”
