1
And Yahuah said to me: “Take for yourself a large tablet and write upon it with the stylus of Adam: ‘Maher-Shalal-Chash-Baz.’”
2
And I took for myself faithful witnesses: Uriyah the kohen and Zekharyahu son of Yeverekhyahu.
3
And I drew near to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. And Yahuah said to me: “Call his name Maher-Shalal-Chash-Baz.
4
For before the boy knows to call, ‘My father,’ and, ‘My mother,’ the wealth of Dammeseq and the spoil of Shomron shall be carried before the king of Ashshur.”
5
And Yahuah continued speaking to me again, saying:
6
“Because this people has rejected the waters of Shiloach that go softly, and rejoices in Retzin and the son of Remalyahu,
7
therefore, see, Adonai is bringing up against them the waters of the River, mighty and many—the king of Ashshur and all his glory. And it shall rise over all its channels, and go over all its banks.
8
And it shall pass through Yehudah; it shall overflow and pass over. It shall reach even to the neck. And the spreading of its wings shall fill the breadth of your land, Immanu-El.”
9
Be shattered, peoples, and be broken. Give ear, all distant places of the earth. Gird yourselves, and be broken. Gird yourselves, and be broken.
10
Counsel a counsel, and it shall be broken. Speak a word, and it shall not stand, for El is with us.
11
For thus Yahuah spoke to me with a strong hand and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying:
12
“You shall not call conspiracy everything that this people calls conspiracy. And what they fear, you shall not fear, and you shall not dread it.
13
Yahuah of Hosts— Him you shall set apart. And He shall be your fear, and He shall be your dread.
14
And He shall become a sanctuary, but also a stone of striking and a rock of stumbling to both Houses of Yisra’el, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim.
15
And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be captured.”
16
Bind up the Testimony. Seal the Torah among my taught ones.
17
And I will wait for Yahuah, who hides His face from the House of Yaaqov, and I will look for Him.
18
See, I and the children whom Yahuah has given me are for signs and for wonders in Yisra’el from Yahuah of Hosts, who dwells in Mount Tziyon.
19
And when they say to you: “Seek the mediums and those who know spirits, who chirp and mutter,” should not a people seek its Elohim? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?
20
To the Torah and to the Testimony. If they do not speak according to this word, there is no dawn for them.
21
And they shall pass through it hard-pressed and hungry. And it shall come to pass, when they are hungry, that they shall become enraged and curse their king and their elohim, and turn their face upward.
22
And they shall look toward the earth, and see: distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish, and they shall be driven into thick darkness.
