1
The burden of Bavel, which Yeshayahu son of Amotz saw.
2
Upon a bare mountain lift up a banner. Raise the voice to them. Wave the hand, that they may enter the gates of the nobles.
3
“I Myself have commanded My set-apart ones. I have also called My mighty ones for My anger— those rejoicing in My exaltation.”
4
A sound of tumult upon the mountains, like that of a numerous people. A sound of uproar from kingdoms, of nations gathered together. Yahuah of Hosts is mustering a host for battle.
5
They come from a distant land, from the end of the heavens— Yahuah and the instruments of His indignation— to destroy all the land.
6
Wail, for the Day of Yahuah is near. As destruction from Shaddai it shall come.
7
Therefore all hands shall become weak, and every heart of Adam shall melt.
8
And they shall be terrified. Pangs and birth-pains shall seize them. Like an ishah giving birth they shall writhe. Each ish shall be astonished at his companion; their faces shall be faces of flame.
9
See, the Day of Yahuah comes— cruel, with fury and burning anger— to make the land a desolation and to destroy its sinners from it.
10
For the stars of the heavens and their constellations shall not cause their light to shine. The sun shall be darkened in its going out, and the moon shall not cause its light to shine.
11
“And I will visit evil upon the world, and upon the wicked their crookedness. And I will cause the pride of the arrogant to cease, and bring low the height of the violent.
12
I will make Adam more rare than refined gold, and ish than the gold of Ophir.
13
Therefore I will cause the heavens to tremble, and the earth shall shake from its place, at the wrath of Yahuah of Hosts, and in the day of His burning anger.
14
And it shall be like a hunted gazelle, and like sheep with none gathering them. Each ish shall turn to his own people, and each ish shall flee to his own land.
15
Everyone found shall be pierced through, and everyone captured shall fall by the sword.
16
And their infants shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes. Their houses shall be plundered, and their wives violated.
17
See, I am stirring up the Medes against them, who do not account silver, and in gold they do not delight.
18
And their bows shall shatter young men. And upon the fruit of the womb they shall have no compassion. Their eye shall not spare sons.
19
And Bavel, the splendor of kingdoms, the beauty of the pride of the Kasdim, shall become as Elohim’s overthrow of Sedom and Amorah.
20
It shall never be inhabited, nor shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. And no Aravi shall pitch his tent there, nor shall shepherds cause their flocks to lie there.
21
But wild creatures of the desert shall lie there, and their houses shall be filled with howling creatures. And daughters of the ostrich shall dwell there, and goat-like creatures shall dance there.
22
And wild beasts shall answer in its palaces, and jackals in its houses of delight. And her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
