1
Woe, Ari’el, Ari’el, city where Daviyd encamped. Add year upon year; let the appointed times complete their cycle.
2
Yet I shall press Ari’el, and there shall be mourning and lamentation; and she shall be to Me like Ari’el.
3
I shall encamp against you all around. I shall lay siege against you with a garrison, and raise siegeworks against you.
4
You shall be brought low; from the earth you shall speak, and from the dust your speech shall bow down. Your voice shall be like that of an ancestral spirit from the earth, and from the dust your speech shall whisper.
5
But the multitude of your foreigners shall become like fine dust, and the multitude of the ruthless like chaff passing away. And it shall happen suddenly, in a moment.
6
From Yahuah of Hosts you shall be visited with thunder, earthquake, and great noise, storm, tempest, and flame of consuming fire.
7
And the multitude of all the nations warring against Ari’el— all who war against her and her stronghold, and those pressing her— shall be like a dream, a vision of the night.
8
It shall be as when the hungry dreams, and see, he eats, but he awakens and his being is empty; or as when the thirsty dreams, and see, he drinks, but he awakens, and see, he is faint and his being longs. Thus shall be the multitude of all the nations that war against Mount Tziyon.
9
Linger and be astonished. Blind yourselves and be blind. They are drunk, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.
10
For Yahuah has poured upon you a ruach of deep sleep. He has closed your eyes—the prophets— and He has covered your heads—the seers.
11
And the vision of all this has become to you like the words of a sealed sefer. When they give it to one who knows the record, saying, “Please read this,” he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”
12
And when the sefer is given to one who does not know the record, saying, “Please read this,” he says, “I do not know the record.”
13
And Adonai said: “Because this people draws near with its mouth and honors Me with its lips, but has removed its heart far from Me, and their fear of Me is a commandment of men learned by repetition,
14
therefore see, I shall continue to do a wonder among this people— wonder upon wonder. The wisdom of their wise shall perish, and the understanding of their discerning shall be hidden.”
15
Woe to those who go deep to conceal counsel from Yahuah, whose works are in darkness, and who say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?”
16
Your turning of things upside down! Shall the potter be considered like the clay, that the work should say of the one who made it, “He did not make me”? Or the thing formed say of the one who formed it, “He has no understanding”?
17
Is it not yet a very little while until Levanon is turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is considered a forest?
18
And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of a sefer, and from gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see.
19
The humble shall increase their joy in Yahuah, and the poor among Adam shall rejoice in the Holy One of Yisra’el.
20
For the ruthless shall come to nothing, and the mocker shall cease; and all watching for crookedness shall be cut off—
21
those who make an Adam guilty by a word, who set a snare for the reprover in the gate, and turn aside the righteous with emptiness.
22
Therefore thus says Yahuah, who redeemed Avraham, concerning the House of Yaaqov: “Yaaqov shall no longer be ashamed, nor shall his face now grow pale.
23
For when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst, they shall sanctify My Name. They shall sanctify the Holy One of Yaaqov and stand in awe of the Elohim of Yisra’el.
24
Those who wander in ruach shall know understanding, and those who murmur shall learn instruction.”
