1
Thus says Yahuah: “Go and acquire a potter’s earthen jar, and take from the elders of the people and from the elders of the Kohenim.
2
And go out to the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, which is at the entrance of the Potsherd Gate, and call there the Words that I speak to you.
3
And you shall say, ‘Hear the Word of Yahuah, sovereigns of Yehudah and inhabitants of Yerushalayim. Thus says Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: See, I am bringing evil upon this place such that everyone hearing of it, his ears shall tingle.
4
Because they forsook Me and made this place foreign; they burned incense in it to other elohim whom neither they, their fathers, nor the sovereigns of Yehudah had known; and they filled this place with the blood of the innocent.
5
And they built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in fire as ascending offerings to Baal— which I did not command or speak, nor did it rise upon My heart.

Therefore see, days are coming,’ declares Yahuah, ‘when this place shall no longer be called Tophet or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
7
And I shall empty the counsel of Yehudah and Yerushalayim in this place. I shall cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of those seeking their being. And I shall give their corpses as food for the birds of the heavens and for the beasts of the earth.
8
And I shall appoint this city as an astonishment and as a hissing. Everyone passing over it shall be astonished and hiss over all its wounds.
9
And I shall cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters. Each ish shall eat the flesh of his companion in the siege and in the distress with which their enemies and those seeking their being shall distress them.’

Then you shall break the jar before the eyes of the men walking with you,

and say to them, ‘Thus says Yahuah of Hosts: In this way I shall break this people and this city, as one breaks the vessel of a potter that cannot be repaired again. And they shall bury in Tophet until there is no place to bury.
12
Thus I shall do to this place,’ declares Yahuah, ‘and to its inhabitants, even making this city like Tophet.
13
And the houses of Yerushalayim and the houses of the sovereigns of Yehudah shall become unclean like the place of Tophet— all the houses upon whose roofs they burned incense to all the host of the heavens and poured drink offerings to other elohim.’”

Then Yirmeyahu came from Tophet, where Yahuah had sent him to prophesy. And he stood in the court of the House of Yahuah and said to all the people,

“Thus says Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: ‘See, I am bringing upon this city and upon all its towns all the evil that I spoke against it, because they hardened their neck so as not to hear My Words.’”
