1
Yahuah caused me to see, and see—two baskets of figs were set before the Temple of Yahuah, after Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel had exiled Yekhanyahu son of Yehoyaqim, sovereign of Yehudah, and the rulers of Yehudah, with the craftsmen and smiths, from Yerushalayim and had brought them to Bavel.
2
One basket had very good figs, like first-ripe figs; and the other basket had very bad figs that could not be eaten because of their evil.
3
And Yahuah said to me, “What do you see, Yirmeyahu?” And I said, “Figs—the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten because of their evil.”
4
And the Word of Yahuah came to me, saying,
5
“Thus says Yahuah, Elohim of Yisra’el: ‘Like these good figs, so I shall regard for good the exiles of Yehudah whom I sent out from this place to the land of the Kasdim.
6
And I shall set My eye upon them for good and return them to this land. I shall build them and not pull them down; I shall plant them and not uproot them.
7
And I shall give them a heart to know Me, that I am Yahuah. And they shall become My people, and I shall become their Elohim, for they shall return to Me with all their heart.
8
And like the bad figs that cannot be eaten because of their evil,’ surely thus says Yahuah, ‘so I shall give Tzidqiyahu sovereign of Yehudah, his rulers, and the remnant of Yerushalayim remaining in this land, and those dwelling in the land of Mitzrayim.
9
And I shall give them for horror and evil to all the kingdoms of the earth— for reproach, proverb, taunt, and curse in all the places to which I drive them.
10
And I shall send among them sword, famine, and pestilence, until they are consumed from upon the ground that I gave to them and to their fathers.’”
