The Word that came to Yirmeyahu from Yahuah in the days of Yehoyaqim son of Yoshiyahu, sovereign of Yehudah, saying,

“Go to the House of the Rekhavim and speak with them. Bring them into the House of Yahuah, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.”

Then I took Yaazanyahu son of Yirmeyahu son of Chavatzinyahu, his brothers and all his sons, and all the House of the Rekhavim.
4
And I brought them into the House of Yahuah, into the chamber of the sons of Chanan son of Yigdalyahu, the ish of Elohim, which was beside the chamber of the rulers, above the chamber of Maaseyahu son of Shallum, guardian of the threshold.

And I set before the sons of the House of the Rekhavim bowls full of wine and cups, and I said to them, “Drink wine.”

But they said, “We do not drink wine. For Yonadav son of Rekhav our father commanded us, saying, ‘You shall not drink wine, you or your sons, forever.
7
And you shall not build a house, sow seed, plant a vineyard, or possess these. But in tents you shall dwell all your days, so that you may live many days upon the face of the ground where you dwell as foreigners.’
8
And we have heard the voice of Yonadav son of Rekhav our father in all that he commanded us— not to drink wine all our days, we, our women, our sons, or our daughters;
9
and not to build houses for our dwelling; and vineyard, field, or seed we do not possess.
10
And we dwell in tents, and we have heard and done according to all that Yonadav our father commanded us.
11
But it came to be when Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel ascended against the land, that we said, ‘Come, and let us enter Yerushalayim before the face of the army of the Kasdim and before the face of the army of Aram.’ Therefore we dwell in Yerushalayim.”

And the Word of Yahuah came to Yirmeyahu, saying,

“Thus says Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: Go and say to the ish of Yehudah and to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim, ‘Shall you not receive correction to hear My Words?’ declares Yahuah.

‘The words of Yonadav son of Rekhav, by which he commanded his sons not to drink wine, have been established, and they have not drunk even to this day, for they heard the command of their father. But I spoke to you, rising early and speaking, and you did not hear Me.

And I sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying, “Return now, each ish from his evil way, make your deeds good, and do not walk after other elohim to serve them. Then you shall dwell upon the ground that I gave to you and to your fathers.” But you did not incline your ear or hear Me.
16
For the sons of Yonadav son of Rekhav established the command of their father that he commanded them, but this people has not heard Me.’
17
Therefore thus says Yahuah, Elohim of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: ‘See, I am bringing upon Yehudah and upon all the inhabitants of Yerushalayim all the evil that I spoke against them, because I spoke to them but they did not hear, and I called to them but they did not answer.’”

And to the House of the Rekhavim Yirmeyahu said, “Thus says Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: ‘Because you heard the command of Yonadav your father, guarded all his commands, and did according to all that he commanded you,

therefore thus says Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: An ish shall not be cut off from Yonadav son of Rekhav standing before My face all the days.’”
