1
in the ninth year of Tzidqiyahu sovereign of Yehudah, in the tenth new moon, Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel and all his army came to Yerushalayim and besieged it.
2
In the eleventh year of Tzidqiyahu, in the fourth new moon, on the ninth day of the new moon, the city was broken open.
3
And all the rulers of the sovereign of Bavel entered and sat in the Middle Gate: Nergal-Saretzer, Samgar-Nevo, Sarsekhim chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-Saretzer chief of the magi, and all the remainder of the rulers of the sovereign of Bavel.
4
And it came to be when Tzidqiyahu sovereign of Yehudah and all the men of battle saw them, they fled and went out from the city by night, by the way of the garden of the sovereign, through the gate between the two walls; and he went out by the way of the Aravah.
5
But the army of the Kasdim pursued them and overtook Tzidqiyahu in the plains of Yericho. They took him and brought him up to Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel at Rivlah in the land of Chamat, and he spoke Judgments with him.
6
And the sovereign of Bavel slaughtered the sons of Tzidqiyahu before his eyes at Rivlah; and the sovereign of Bavel also slaughtered all the nobles of Yehudah.
7
And he blinded the eyes of Tzidqiyahu and bound him with bronze chains to bring him to Bavel.
8
And the Kasdim burned with fire the house of the sovereign and the houses of the people, and they pulled down the walls of Yerushalayim.
9
And the remainder of the people remaining in the city, those who had fallen away to him, and the remainder of the people who remained, Nevuzaradan chief of the guards exiled to Bavel.
10
But some of the poor people who possessed nothing, Nevuzaradan chief of the guards caused to remain in the land of Yehudah, and he gave them vineyards and fields on that day.
11
And Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel commanded concerning Yirmeyahu by the hand of Nevuzaradan chief of the guards, saying,
12
“Take him, and set your eyes upon him. Do not do any evil to him, but do with him according to what he speaks to you.”
13
Then Nevuzaradan chief of the guards, Nevushazban chief of the eunuchs, Nergal-Saretzer chief of the magi, and all the chief officers of the sovereign of Bavel sent,
14
and they sent and took Yirmeyahu from the courtyard of the guard and gave him to Gedalyahu son of Achiqam son of Shaphan to bring him to the House. And he dwelt in the midst of the people.
15
And the Word of Yahuah came to Yirmeyahu while he was confined in the courtyard of the guard, saying,
16
“Go and speak to Eved-Melekh the Kushiy, saying, ‘Thus says Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el: See, I am bringing My Words upon this city for evil and not for good, and they shall come to be before your face in that day.
17
But I shall deliver you in that day,’ declares Yahuah, ‘and you shall not be given into the hand of the men before whose faces you are afraid.
18
For rescuing, I shall rescue you, and you shall not fall by the sword. Your being shall become your spoil, because you trusted in Me,’” declares Yahuah.
