1
The Word of Yahuah that came to Yirmeyahu the prophet concerning the nations:
2
Concerning Mitzrayim, concerning the army of Pharaoh Nekho sovereign of Mitzrayim that was by the river Perat at Karkemish, which Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel struck in the fourth year of Yehoyaqim son of Yoshiyahu, sovereign of Yehudah:
3
“Arrange the small shield and the large shield, and draw near to battle!
4
Harness the horses and ascend, horsemen! Stand with helmets; polish the spears; put on the armor!
5
Why have I seen them shattered, turning backward? Their mighty ones are crushed; fleeing, they flee and do not turn. Terror is all around,” declares Yahuah.
6
“Let not the swift flee, and let not the mighty escape. Toward the north, by the hand of the river Perat, they have stumbled and fallen.
7
Who is this rising like the Ye’or, whose waters toss like rivers?
8
Mitzrayim rises like the Ye’or, and its waters toss like rivers. And he says, ‘I shall rise; I shall cover the earth. I shall destroy the city and those dwelling in it.’
9
Ascend, horses! Rage, chariots! Let the mighty ones go forth— Kush and Put, who hold the shield, and Lud, who hold and bend the bow.
10
For that day belongs to Adonai Yahuah of Hosts, a day of vengeance to avenge Himself upon His adversaries. The sword shall devour and be satisfied and shall be filled with their blood, for Adonai Yahuah of Hosts has a sacrifice in the land of the north by the river Perat.
11
Ascend to Gilad and take balm, virgin daughter of Mitzrayim. In vain you multiply medicines; there is no healing for you.
12
The nations have heard your shame, and your cry has filled the earth. For mighty ish has stumbled against mighty ish; together both have fallen.”
13
The Word that Yahuah spoke to Yirmeyahu the prophet concerning the coming of Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel to strike the land of Mitzrayim:
14
“Declare in Mitzrayim and cause it to be heard in Migdol. Cause it to be heard in Nof and in Tachpanches. Say, ‘Stand and prepare yourself, for the sword devours all around you.’
15
Why are your mighty ones swept away? They did not stand, because Yahuah thrust them down.
16
He multiplied those stumbling; each ish even fell upon his companion. And they said, ‘Rise, and let us return to our people and to the land of our birth before the face of the oppressing sword.’
17
There they called, ‘Pharaoh sovereign of Mitzrayim is a noise; he has allowed the appointed time to pass.’
18
As I live,” declares the Sovereign, whose Name is Yahuah of Hosts, “surely as Tavor among the mountains and as Karmel by the sea, he shall come.
19
Make for yourself vessels of exile, inhabitant daughter of Mitzrayim, for Nof shall become a desolation, burned and without inhabitant.
20
Mitzrayim is a very beautiful heifer, but a stinging fly from the north comes; it comes.
21
Even her hired men in her midst are like fattened calves, but they also have turned; together they have fled and did not stand. For the day of their evil has come upon them, the time of their visitation.
22
Her voice goes like the serpent, for with an army they go, and with axes they come against her like cutters of wood.
23
They shall cut down her forest,” declares Yahuah, “though it cannot be searched, for they are more numerous than locusts and are without number.
24
The daughter of Mitzrayim is ashamed; she is given into the hand of the people of the north.”
25
Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el, says: “See, I am visiting Amon of No, Pharaoh, Mitzrayim, her elohim and her sovereigns— Pharaoh and those trusting in him.
26
And I shall give them into the hand of those seeking their being, into the hand of Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel and into the hand of his servants. But afterward it shall be inhabited as in the days of ancient time,” declares Yahuah.
27
“And you, do not fear, My servant Yaaqov, and do not be shattered, Yisra’el. For see, I am saving you from afar, and your seed from the land of their captivity. Yaaqov shall return and be quiet and at ease, with no one causing fear.
28
You, do not fear, My servant Yaaqov,” declares Yahuah, “for I am with you. For I shall make a complete end of all the nations to which I drove you, but of you I shall not make a complete end. I shall correct you in Judgment, and holding innocent, I shall not hold you innocent.”
