1
Concerning the sons of Ammon: Thus says Yahuah: “Does Yisra’el have no sons? Does he have no inheritor? Why then has Malkam inherited Gad, and his people dwell in its cities?
2
Therefore see, days are coming,” declares Yahuah, “when I shall cause an alarm of battle to be heard against Rabbah of the sons of Ammon. And she shall become a desolate mound; her daughters shall be burned with fire. Then Yisra’el shall inherit those who inherited him,” says Yahuah.
3
“Howl, Cheshbon, for Ai is destroyed! Cry, daughters of Rabbah! Bind on sackcloth; lament; run to and fro by the walls. For Malkam shall go into exile, his Kohenim and his rulers together.
4
Why do you boast in the valleys— your flowing valley, turning-away daughter— who trusts in her treasures, saying, ‘Who shall come against me?’
5
See, I am bringing fear upon you,” declares Adonai Yahuah of Hosts, “from all around you. Each ish shall be driven before his face, and there shall be no one gathering the wanderers.
6
But afterward I shall return the captivity of the sons of Ammon,” declares Yahuah.
7
Concerning Edom: Thus says Yahuah of Hosts: “Is there no longer wisdom in Teyman? Has counsel perished from those understanding? Has their wisdom decayed?
8
Flee; turn; dwell deep, inhabitants of Dedan, for I shall bring the evil of Esaw upon him, the time of his visitation.
9
If grape-gatherers came to you, would they not leave gleanings? If thieves came by night, would they not destroy only what was enough for them?
10
But I have stripped Esaw bare; I have uncovered his hidden places, and he is unable to conceal himself. His seed, his brothers, and his neighbors are destroyed, and he is no more.
11
Leave your fatherless ones; I shall keep them alive. And let your widows trust in Me.”
12
For thus says Yahuah: “See, those whose Judgment was not to drink the cup drinking, shall drink. And are you the one to be held innocent? You shall not be held innocent, but drinking, you shall drink.
13
For by Myself I have sworn,” declares Yahuah, “that Botzrah shall become an astonishment, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all her cities shall become everlasting wastes.”
14
I have heard a report from Yahuah, and a messenger is sent among the nations: “Gather yourselves and come against her; rise for battle.”
15
“For see, I have made you small among the nations, despised among Adam.
16
Your terror has deceived you, the pride of your heart, you who dwell in clefts of the rock and hold the height of the hill. Though you make your nest high like the eagle, from there I shall bring you down,” declares Yahuah.
17
“And Edom shall become an astonishment. Everyone passing over her shall be astonished and hiss over all her wounds.
18
Like the overthrow of Sedom and Amorah and their neighbors,” says Yahuah, “no ish shall dwell there, and no son of Adam shall dwell in her.
19
See, like a lion he ascends from the pride of the Yarden against the enduring pasture. For in a moment I shall cause him to run away from her, and whoever is chosen I shall appoint over her. For who is like Me? Who shall summon Me? And who is this shepherd who shall stand before My face?
20
Therefore hear the counsel of Yahuah that He has counseled against Edom, and His purposes that He has purposed against the inhabitants of Teyman: Surely they shall drag away the little ones of the flock; surely He shall make their pasture desolate over them.
21
At the sound of their fall the earth shakes. The sound of its cry is heard at the Sea of Reeds.
22
See, like an eagle he ascends and flies; he spreads his wings over Botzrah. And the heart of the mighty ones of Edom in that day shall become like the heart of an ishah laboring in birth.”
23
Concerning Dammeseq: “Chamat and Arpad are ashamed, for they heard an evil report. They melt; anxiety is in the sea; it is unable to be quiet.
24
Dammeseq has grown weak; she turns to flee, and trembling has seized her. Distress and birth pains have taken hold of her like an ishah laboring in birth.
25
How has the city of praise not been forsaken, the city of My joy?
26
Therefore her young men shall fall in her squares, and all the men of battle shall be silenced in that day,” declares Yahuah of Hosts.
27
“And I shall kindle fire in the wall of Dammeseq, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben-Hadad.”
28
Concerning Qedar and concerning the kingdoms of Chatzor that Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel struck: Thus says Yahuah: “Rise, ascend to Qedar, and destroy the sons of the east.
29
Their tents and their flocks they shall take; their curtains, all their vessels, and their camels they shall carry for themselves. And they shall call against them, ‘Terror all around!’
30
Flee; wander far away; dwell deep, inhabitants of Chatzor,” declares Yahuah, “for Nevukhadretztzar sovereign of Bavel has counseled counsel against you and purposed a purpose against you.
31
Rise; ascend against a nation at ease, dwelling in security,” declares Yahuah, “which has neither doors nor bars, dwelling alone.
32
Their camels shall become plunder and the multitude of their livestock spoil. I shall scatter to every ruach those with the corners of the hair cut, and from all its sides I shall bring their evil,” declares Yahuah.
33
“And Chatzor shall become a dwelling of jackals, an everlasting desolation. No ish shall dwell there, and no son of Adam shall dwell in her.”
34
The Word of Yahuah that came to Yirmeyahu the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Tzidqiyahu sovereign of Yehudah, saying,
35
“Thus says Yahuah of Hosts: See, I am breaking the bow of Elam, the beginning of their might.
36
And I shall bring against Elam four winds from the four ends of the heavens. I shall scatter them to all these winds, and there shall be no nation to which the driven of Elam shall not come.
37
And I shall shatter Elam before the face of their enemies and before the face of those seeking their being. I shall bring evil upon them— the burning of My anger,” declares Yahuah. “And I shall send the sword after them until I have consumed them.
38
And I shall place My throne in Elam and destroy from there sovereign and rulers,” declares Yahuah.
39
“But it shall be in the latter days that I shall return the captivity of Elam,” declares Yahuah.
