1
And Yahuah said to Mosheh, “See, I have set you as Elohim to Pharaoh, and Aharon your brother shall be your prophet.
2
You shall speak all that I command you, and Aharon your brother shall speak to Pharaoh, that he send the sons of Yisra’el away from his land.
3
And I will strengthen the heart of Pharaoh, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Mitzrayim.
4
But Pharaoh will not listen to you. And I will set My hand against Mitzrayim and bring out My hosts, My people, the sons of Yisra’el, from the land of Mitzrayim by great judgments.
5
And the Mitzrim shall know that I am Yahuah when I stretch out My hand against Mitzrayim and bring the sons of Yisra’el out from their midst.”
6
And Mosheh and Aharon did so. According to what Yahuah commanded them, so they did.
7
And Mosheh was eighty years old, and Aharon eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.
8
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon, saying,
9
“When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Give a wonder for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aharon, ‘Take your staff and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a tannin.’”
10
And Mosheh and Aharon came to Pharaoh and did according to what Yahuah had commanded. And Aharon cast his staff before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a tannin.
11
And Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers, and the diviners of Mitzrayim also did so with their secret arts.
12
And each ish cast down his staff, and they became tanninim. But the staff of Aharon swallowed their staffs.
13
And the heart of Pharaoh was strengthened, and he did not listen to them, according to what Yahuah had spoken.
14
And Yahuah said to Mosheh, “The heart of Pharaoh is heavy; he refuses to send the people away.
15
Go to Pharaoh in the morning. See, he is going out toward the water. And you shall stand to meet him upon the bank of the River, and the staff that was turned into a serpent you shall take in your hand.
16
And you shall say to him, ‘Yahuah, Elohim of the Ivrim, sent me to you, saying, “Send My people away, that they may serve Me in the wilderness.” And see, until now you have not listened.
17
Thus says Yahuah: “By this you shall know that I am Yahuah. See, with the staff that is in my hand I will strike the waters that are in the River, and they shall be turned to blood.
18
And the fish that are in the River shall die, and the River shall stink, and the Mitzrim shall be unable to drink water from the River.”’”
19
And Yahuah said to Mosheh, “Say to Aharon, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Mitzrayim—over their rivers, over their canals, over their pools, and over every gathering of their waters—and they shall become blood. And there shall be blood throughout all the land of Mitzrayim, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.’”
20
And Mosheh and Aharon did so, according to what Yahuah commanded. And he lifted the staff and struck the waters that were in the River before the eyes of Pharaoh and before the eyes of his servants, and all the waters that were in the River were turned to blood.
21
And the fish that were in the River died, and the River stank, and the Mitzrim were not able to drink water from the River. And the blood was throughout all the land of Mitzrayim.
22
And the diviners of Mitzrayim did so with their secret arts. And the heart of Pharaoh was strengthened, and he did not listen to them, according to what Yahuah had spoken.
23
And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, and he did not set his heart even to this.
24
And all the Mitzrim dug around the River for water to drink, because they were not able to drink from the waters of the River.
25
And seven days were completed after Yahuah struck the River.
