1
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh and to Aharon in the land of Mitzrayim, saying,
2
“This month shall be for you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you.
3
Speak to all the congregation of Yisra’el, saying, ‘On the tenth day of this month, each ish shall take for himself a lamb according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.
4
And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his neighbor nearest to his house shall take one according to the number of persons. According to what each one eats, you shall count for the lamb.
5
Your lamb shall be whole, a male, a son of a year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.
6
And you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month. And all the assembly of the congregation of Yisra’el shall slaughter it between the evenings.
7
And they shall take from the blood and place it upon the two doorposts and upon the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.
8
And they shall eat the flesh that night, roasted with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
9
Do not eat any of it raw, nor boiled at all in water, but roasted with fire—its head with its legs and with its inner parts.
10
And you shall not leave any of it until morning. And what remains of it until morning, you shall burn with fire.
11
And thus you shall eat it: your loins girded, your sandals upon your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste. It is Pesach to Yahuah.
12
For I will pass through the land of Mitzrayim on this night, and I will strike every firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim, from Adam even to beast. And against all the elohim of Mitzrayim I will execute judgments. I am Yahuah.
13
And the blood shall be a sign for you upon the houses where you are. And I will see the blood and pass over you, and no plague shall be upon you for destruction when I strike the land of Mitzrayim.
14
And this day shall be for you a remembrance, and you shall keep it as a feast to Yahuah throughout your generations. As an everlasting statute you shall keep it.
15
Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. Indeed, on the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses, for whoever eats what is leavened from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Yisra’el.
16
And on the first day there shall be a holy gathering for you, and on the seventh day a holy gathering. No work shall be done on them, except what every person must eat; that alone may be prepared by you.
17
And you shall guard the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because on this very day I brought your hosts out from the land of Mitzrayim. And you shall guard this day throughout your generations as an everlasting statute.
18
In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread until the twenty-first day of the month at evening.
19
Seven days no leaven shall be found in your houses. For whoever eats what is leavened, that person shall be cut off from the congregation of Yisra’el, whether sojourner or native of the land.
20
You shall eat nothing leavened. In all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.’”
21
And Mosheh called for all the elders of Yisra’el and said to them, “Draw out and take for yourselves lambs according to your families, and slaughter the Pesach.
22
And you shall take a bundle of hyssop, dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. And none of you shall go out from the entrance of his house until morning.
23
For Yahuah will pass through to strike the Mitzrim. And when He sees the blood upon the lintel and upon the two doorposts, Yahuah will pass over the entrance and will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you.
24
And you shall guard this matter as a statute for you and for your sons perpetually.
25
And it shall be, when you come into the land that Yahuah will give you according to what He has spoken, that you shall guard this service.
26
And it shall be, when your sons say to you, ‘What is this service to you?’
27
then you shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of Pesach to Yahuah, who passed over the houses of the sons of Yisra’el in Mitzrayim when He struck the Mitzrim and delivered our houses.’” And the people bowed their heads and bowed themselves.
28
And the sons of Yisra’el went and did so. According to what Yahuah commanded Mosheh and Aharon, so they did.
29
And it came to pass at midnight that Yahuah struck every firstborn in the land of Mitzrayim, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat upon his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the house of the pit, and every firstborn of beast.
30
And Pharaoh arose in the night, he and all his servants and all the Mitzrim. And there was a great cry in Mitzrayim, for there was no house where there was not one dead.
31
And he called Mosheh and Aharon by night and said, “Rise, go out from the midst of my people, both you and the sons of Yisra’el. Go, serve Yahuah according to your word.
32
Take both your flocks and your herds, according to what you have spoken, and go. And bless me also.”
33
And the Mitzrim pressed the people strongly, to send them away quickly from the land, for they said, “We are all dying.”
34
And the people lifted their dough before it was leavened, their kneading bowls bound in their garments upon their shoulders.
35
And the sons of Yisra’el did according to the word of Mosheh, and they asked from the Mitzrim vessels of silver, vessels of gold, and garments.
36
And Yahuah gave the people favor in the eyes of the Mitzrim, and they gave them what they asked. And they stripped Mitzrayim.
37
And the sons of Yisra’el journeyed from Raamses toward Sukkot, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides the little ones.
38
And also a great mixed multitude went up with them, and flocks and herds, exceedingly much livestock.
39
And they baked the dough that they had brought out from Mitzrayim into unleavened cakes, for it was not leavened, because they were driven out from Mitzrayim and were not able to delay, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves.
40
And the dwelling of the sons of Yisra’el, which they dwelt, was four hundred and thirty years.
41
And it came to pass at the end of four hundred and thirty years, on this very day, that all the hosts of Yahuah went out from the land of Mitzrayim.
42
It is a night of watchings to Yahuah for bringing them out from the land of Mitzrayim. This is that night of watchings to Yahuah for all the sons of Yisra’el throughout their generations.
43
And Yahuah said to Mosheh and Aharon, “This is the statute of the Pesach: no foreigner shall eat of it.
44
But every servant of an ish purchased with silver, when you have circumcised him, then he may eat of it.
45
A sojourning resident and a hired servant shall not eat of it.
46
In one house it shall be eaten. You shall not carry any of the flesh outside from the house, and you shall not break a bone of it.
47
All the congregation of Yisra’el shall prepare it.
48
And when a sojourner sojourns with you and desires to prepare Pesach to Yahuah, every male belonging to him shall be circumcised. Then he may draw near to prepare it, and he shall be as one native of the land. But no uncircumcised one shall eat of it.
49
One Torah shall be for the native and for the sojourner who sojourns in your midst.”
50
And all the sons of Yisra’el did so. According to what Yahuah commanded Mosheh and Aharon, so they did.
51
And it came to pass on this very day that Yahuah brought the sons of Yisra’el out from the land of Mitzrayim according to their hosts.
