1
“And you shall bring near to yourself Aharon your brother, and his sons with him, from among the sons of Yisra’el, that he may serve Me as kohen—Aharon, Nadav and Avihu, Elazar and Itamar, the sons of Aharon.
2
And you shall make holy garments for Aharon your brother, for glory and for beauty.
3
And you shall speak to all the wise of heart, whom I have filled with a Ruach of wisdom, and they shall make the garments of Aharon, to set him apart, that he may serve Me as kohen.
4
And these are the garments that they shall make: a breastpiece, and an ephod, and a robe, and a woven tunic, a turban, and a sash. And they shall make holy garments for Aharon your brother and for his sons, that they may serve Me as kohenim.
5
And they shall take the gold, and the blue, and the purple, and the scarlet thread, and the fine linen.
6
And they shall make the ephod of gold, blue, purple, scarlet thread, and fine twisted linen, the work of a skillful craftsman.
7
Two shoulder pieces joined at its two ends shall be upon it, and it shall be joined together.
8
And the skillfully woven band of its ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same work, of one piece with it: gold, blue, purple, scarlet thread, and fine twisted linen.
9
And you shall take two onyx stones and engrave upon them the names of the sons of Yisra’el:
10
six of their names upon the one stone and the names of the six remaining upon the second stone, according to their birth.
11
With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones according to the names of the sons of Yisra’el. Surrounded with settings of gold you shall make them.
12
And you shall place the two stones upon the shoulder pieces of the ephod as stones of remembrance for the sons of Yisra’el. And Aharon shall bear their names before Yahuah upon his two shoulders for remembrance.
13
And you shall make settings of gold,
14
and two chains of pure gold, twisted like cords you shall make them, and you shall fasten the corded chains to the settings.
15
And you shall make the breastpiece of judgment, the work of a skillful craftsman. Like the work of the ephod you shall make it: of gold, blue, purple, scarlet thread, and fine twisted linen you shall make it.
16
Square it shall be, doubled; a span its length and a span its width.
17
And you shall fill it with settings of stones, four rows of stones. A row of odem, pitdah, and bareqet shall be the first row.
18
And the second row: nofekh, sappir, and yahalom.
19
And the third row: leshem, shevo, and achlamah.
20
And the fourth row: tarshish, shoham, and yashfeh. Set in gold shall they be in their settings.
21
And the stones shall be according to the names of the sons of Yisra’el, twelve according to their names, like the engravings of a signet, each according to his name, for the twelve tribes.
22
And you shall make upon the breastpiece chains at the ends, the work of twisted cords of pure gold.
23
And you shall make upon the breastpiece two rings of gold, and place the two rings upon the two ends of the breastpiece.
24
And you shall place the two cords of gold into the two rings at the ends of the breastpiece.
25
And the two ends of the two cords you shall fasten to the two settings, and place them upon the shoulder pieces of the ephod, toward its front.
26
And you shall make two rings of gold and place them upon the two ends of the breastpiece, upon its edge that is toward the ephod inward.
27
And you shall make two more rings of gold and place them upon the two shoulder pieces of the ephod from below, toward its front, close to its joining, above the skillfully woven band of the ephod.
28
And they shall bind the breastpiece by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a cord of blue, so that it may remain above the skillfully woven band of the ephod, and the breastpiece shall not move away from the ephod.
29
And Aharon shall bear the names of the sons of Yisra’el upon the breastpiece of judgment over his heart when he enters the Holy Place, for a remembrance before Yahuah continually.
30
And you shall place into the breastpiece of judgment the Urim and the Tummim, and they shall be over the heart of Aharon when he comes before Yahuah. And Aharon shall bear the judgment of the sons of Yisra’el over his heart before Yahuah continually.
31
And you shall make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue.
32
And there shall be an opening for his head in its midst. A woven binding shall be around its opening, like the opening of a coat of mail, so that it shall not tear.
33
And upon its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet thread, around its hem, and bells of gold between them all around:
34
a bell of gold and a pomegranate, a bell of gold and a pomegranate, upon the hem of the robe all around.
35
And it shall be upon Aharon when he serves, and its sound shall be heard when he enters the Holy Place before Yahuah and when he goes out, so that he does not die.
36
And you shall make a plate of pure gold and engrave upon it, like the engravings of a signet: Holy to Yahuah.
37
And you shall place it upon a cord of blue, and it shall be upon the turban; upon the front of the turban it shall be.
38
And it shall be upon the forehead of Aharon, and Aharon shall bear the iniquity of the holy things that the sons of Yisra’el set apart in all their holy gifts. And it shall be continually upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before Yahuah.
39
And you shall weave the tunic of fine linen, and you shall make the turban of fine linen, and the sash you shall make, the work of an embroiderer.
40
And for the sons of Aharon you shall make tunics, and you shall make sashes for them, and head coverings you shall make for them, for glory and for beauty.
41
And you shall clothe Aharon your brother with them, and his sons with him. And you shall anoint them, and fill their hand, and set them apart, that they may serve Me as kohenim.
42
And you shall make for them linen undergarments to cover the flesh of nakedness; from the waist even to the thighs they shall be.
43
And they shall be upon Aharon and upon his sons when they enter the Tent of Meeting, or when they draw near to the altar to serve in the Holy Place, so that they do not bear iniquity and die. It shall be an everlasting statute for him and for his seed after him.
