1
And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and Yahuah had given him rest from all his enemies all around,
2
that the king said to Natan the prophet, “See now: I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of Elohim dwells within curtains.”
3
And Natan said to the king, “Go; do all that is in your heart, for Yahuah is with you.”
4
And it came to pass that night that the Word of Yahuah came to Natan, saying:
5
“Go and say to My servant, to Daviyd: ‘Thus says Yahuah: “Will you build for Me a House for My Dwelling?
6
For I have not dwelt in a House from the day I brought up the sons of Yisra’el from Mitzrayim even to this day; but I have walked in a Tent and in a Dwelling.
7
In all the places where I walked with all the sons of Yisra’el, did I ever speak a word with one of the tribes of Yisra’el whom I commanded to shepherd My people Yisra’el, saying, ‘Why have you not built for Me a House of cedar?’”’
8
And now, thus you shall say to My servant Daviyd: ‘Thus says Yahuah of Hosts: “I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be Ruler over My people, over Yisra’el.
9
And I have been with you wherever you walked, and I have cut off all your enemies from before your face. And I will make for you a great Name, like the name of the great ones who are upon the earth.
10
And I will appoint a Place for My people Yisra’el, and I will plant them, that they may dwell in their Place and no longer be disturbed. And sons of wickedness shall no longer afflict them as at the first,
11
and from the day that I commanded shofetim over My people Yisra’el. And I will give you rest from all your enemies. And Yahuah declares to you that Yahuah will make for you a House.
12
When your days are fulfilled, and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your Seed after you, who shall come out from your body, and I will establish his Kingdom.
13
He shall build a House for My Name, and I will establish the Throne of his Kingdom forever.
14
I will be to him for a Father, and he shall be to Me for a son. When he commits crookedness, I will correct him with the rod of Adam and with the stripes of the sons of Adam.
15
But My Covenant-Faithfulness shall not turn aside from him, as I caused it to turn aside from Shaul, whom I removed from before your face.
16
And your House and your Kingdom shall be established forever before your face. Your Throne shall be established forever.”’”
17
According to all these Words, and according to all this vision, so Natan spoke to Daviyd.
18
And King Daviyd went in and sat before the face of Yahuah, and he said: “Who am I, Adonai Yahuah, and what is my House, that You have brought me this far?
19
And this was yet a small thing in Your eyes, Adonai Yahuah, for You have also spoken concerning the House of Your servant for a distant time. And this is the Torah of Adam, Adonai Yahuah.
20
And what more can Daviyd continue to speak to You? For You know Your servant, Adonai Yahuah.
21
For the sake of Your Word, and according to Your heart, You have done all this great thing, to cause Your servant to know it.
22
Therefore You are great, Adonai Yahuah, for there is none like You, and there is no Elohim besides You, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
23
And who is like Your people, like Yisra’el—one nation upon the earth whom Elohim went to redeem for Himself as a people, and to make for Himself a Name, and to do for you the great and fearful things for Your land, before Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Mitzrayim, from nations and their elohim?
24
And You established for Yourself Your people Yisra’el as Your people forever; and You, Yahuah, became their Elohim.
25
And now, Yahuah Elohim, the Word that You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his House—establish it forever, and do according to what You have spoken.
26
And let Your Name be made great forever, saying: ‘Yahuah of Hosts is Elohim over Yisra’el.’ And let the House of Your servant Daviyd be established before Your face.
27
For You, Yahuah of Hosts, Elohim of Yisra’el, have uncovered the ear of Your servant, saying: ‘I will build for you a House.’ Therefore Your servant has found his heart to pray this prayer to You.
28
And now, Adonai Yahuah, You are Elohim, and Your Words are Truth, and You have spoken this Good concerning Your servant.
29
And now, be willing and bless the House of Your servant, that it may be forever before Your face. For You, Adonai Yahuah, have spoken; and from Your blessing, let the House of Your servant be blessed forever.”
