Book 2 — Chapter 20 — Events in Yerushalayim under Nero
Eusebius describes increasing disorder under the procurators Felix and Festus and their successors. Armed groups, assassins known as Sicarii, false prophets, local rebels, and Roman punitive actions multiply. Yosephus reports killings even in the city and sanctuary precincts, while popular leaders persuade crowds to follow them into wilderness regions with promises of signs and deliverance. Eusebius sees the social fabric of Yehudah disintegrating before the final war. The chapter provides the immediate environment in which Acts places Paulos's arrest and transfer to Rome.
