Book 7 — Chapter 11 - Dionysius and Those in Mitsrayim
Book VII follows Dionysius of Alexandria through disputes over washing converts, Valerian's persecution, Gallienus's peace, the Apocalypse debate, Paulos of Samosata, and the emergence of the Manichaean movement. Eusebius's library work is central here. He names books, quotations, disputed writings, teachers, and chains of reception, often preserving information about works that later disappeared. Dionysius is allowed to speak through long extracts from his own correspondence. These letters preserve first-person evidence for persecution, plague, internal dispute, and the intellectual conflicts of the third century. In this reconstruction the chapter coordinate is preserved as Book 7, Chapter 11, and the full subject is retained under the heading 'Dionysius and Those in Mitsrayim'. Names, dates, quoted-source relationships, and political or textual function are kept distinct from Eusebius's own interpretive claims.
