Book 8 — Chapter 4 - Martyrs Remembered in Many Places
Book VIII is Eusebius's eyewitness generation: the Great Persecution, destruction of meeting houses, imprisonment, torture, martyrdom, political reversals, and the first imperial revocation. The chapter records coercion under Roman or local authority: arrest, interrogation, confiscation, exile, torture, execution, or public pressure. Eusebius praises endurance but also records those who yielded, fled, or were later restored. In this reconstruction the chapter coordinate is preserved as Book 8, Chapter 4, and the full subject is retained under the heading 'Martyrs Remembered in Many Places'. Names, dates, quoted-source relationships, and political or textual function are kept distinct from Eusebius's own interpretive claims.
