Book 9 — Chapter 7 - The Decree Engraved on Pillars
Book IX narrates the renewed anti-Christian policy under Maximinus Daia, propaganda, famine and war, and the victories of Constantine and Licinius over rival rulers. A major feature of the chapter is documentary: Eusebius transmits, summarizes, or frames a letter, decree, or other writing because he wants the reader to see the institutional record rather than rely on his narration alone. In this reconstruction the chapter coordinate is preserved as Book 9, Chapter 7, and the full subject is retained under the heading 'The Decree Engraved on Pillars'. Names, dates, quoted-source relationships, and political or textual function are kept distinct from Eusebius's own interpretive claims.
