1
Nereos, Iyov’s seven sons, the poor, the orphans, the weak, and the people of the region mourned.
2
They cried, “The strength of the weak has departed; the light of the blind has departed; the father of orphans has departed.”
3
“The receiver of strangers, guide of those who wandered, clothing of the naked, and shield of widows has been taken from among us.”
4
Their mourning continued until they could scarcely permit the burial to proceed.
5
After three days Iyov’s body was placed in the grave like one entering peaceful sleep.
6
His name remained a memorial of endurance through generations.
7
The received ending says that his former name was Iyovav and that Yahuah named him Iyov.
8
It gives him eighty-five years before the affliction and a doubled span afterward, totaling two hundred and fifty-five years.
9
It says that he saw descendants to the fourth generation.
10
The writing closes with hope that Iyov will rise with those whom Yahuah raises at the appointed resurrection.
