1
And Yahuah spoke to Mosheh on Mount Sinai, saying,
2
“Speak to the sons of Yisra’el and say to them: When you come into the land that I am giving you, then the land shall keep a Shabbat to Yahuah.
3
Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather its produce.
4
But in the seventh year there shall be a Shabbat of complete rest for the land, a Shabbat to Yahuah. Your field you shall not sow, and your vineyard you shall not prune.
5
What grows of itself from your harvest you shall not reap, and the grapes of your untrimmed vine you shall not gather. It shall be a year of complete rest for the land.
6
And the Shabbat produce of the land shall be food for you—for you, and for your male servant, and for your female servant, and for your hired servant, and for the sojourner who sojourns with you,
7
and for your livestock and for the living creatures that are in your land; all its produce shall be for food.
8
And you shall count for yourself seven Shabbatot of years, seven years seven times, and the days of the seven Shabbatot of years shall be for you forty-nine years.
9
And you shall cause the voice of the shofar to pass through on the tenth day of the seventh month. On the Day of Atonement you shall cause the shofar to pass throughout all your land.
10
And you shall set apart the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty in the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Yovel for you, and each ish shall return to his possession, and each ish shall return to his family.
11
A Yovel shall that fiftieth year be for you. You shall not sow, and you shall not reap what grows of itself in it, and you shall not gather from its untrimmed vines.
12
For it is a Yovel; it shall be holy to you. From the field you shall eat its produce.
13
In this year of Yovel, each ish shall return to his possession.
14
And when you sell something to your companion, or acquire something from the hand of your companion, you shall not oppress each ish his brother.
15
According to the number of years after the Yovel you shall acquire from your companion, and according to the number of years of produce he shall sell to you.
16
According to the greatness of the years you shall increase its price, and according to the fewness of the years you shall diminish its price, for according to the number of harvests he is selling to you.
17
And you shall not oppress each ish his companion, but you shall fear your Elohim, for I am Yahuah your Elohim.
18
And you shall do My statutes and guard My judgments and do them, and you shall dwell upon the land securely.
19
And the land shall give its fruit, and you shall eat to fullness and dwell securely upon it.
20
And if you say, ‘What shall we eat in the seventh year? See, we shall not sow, nor gather our produce,’
21
then I will command My blessing for you in the sixth year, and it shall produce a harvest for three years.
22
And you shall sow in the eighth year and eat from the old harvest until the ninth year. Until its harvest comes in, you shall eat the old.
23
And the land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine, for you are sojourners and settlers with Me.
24
And throughout all the land of your possession you shall grant redemption for the land.
25
If your brother becomes poor and sells from his possession, then his nearest redeemer shall come and redeem what his brother sold.
26
And if an ish has no redeemer, but his own hand reaches enough and he finds what is sufficient for its redemption,
27
then he shall count the years from its sale and return the excess to the ish to whom he sold it, and he shall return to his possession.
28
But if his hand does not find enough to return it to him, then what he sold shall remain in the hand of the one who acquired it until the year of Yovel. And in the Yovel it shall go out, and he shall return to his possession.
29
And if an ish sells a dwelling house in a walled city, then his right of redemption shall remain until the completion of a year from its sale. For a full year shall his right of redemption remain.
30
But if it is not redeemed before a full year is completed for him, then the house that is in the walled city shall stand permanently for the one who acquired it throughout his generations. It shall not go out in the Yovel.
31
But the houses of the villages that have no wall around them shall be counted as the field of the land. Redemption shall be for them, and in the Yovel they shall go out.
32
And as for the cities of the Leviim, the houses in the cities of their possession, an everlasting right of redemption shall belong to the Leviim.
33
And if one from the Leviim redeems, then the house sold in the city of his possession shall go out in the Yovel, for the houses of the cities of the Leviim are their possession among the sons of Yisra’el.
34
And the field of the pastureland of their cities shall not be sold, for it is their everlasting possession.
35
And if your brother becomes poor and his hand fails beside you, then you shall strengthen him, whether a sojourner or a settler, that he may live beside you.
36
You shall take no interest or increase from him, but you shall fear your Elohim, that your brother may live beside you.
37
Your silver you shall not give him on interest, and your food you shall not give for increase.
38
I am Yahuah your Elohim, who brought you out from the land of Mitzrayim to give you the land of Kena’an, to be your Elohim.
39
And if your brother beside you becomes poor and sells himself to you, you shall not make him serve the service of a slave.
40
As a hired servant, as a settler, he shall be with you. Until the year of Yovel he shall serve with you.
41
And then he shall go out from you, he and his sons with him, and he shall return to his family, and to the possession of his fathers he shall return.
42
For they are My servants whom I brought out from the land of Mitzrayim; they shall not be sold as slaves are sold.
43
You shall not rule over him with severity, but you shall fear your Elohim.
44
And your male servants and your female servants who shall be yours—from the nations that are around you, from them you may acquire male servants and female servants.
45
And also from the sons of the sojourners who sojourn with you, from them you may acquire, and from their families who are with you, whom they brought forth in your land; and they may become your possession.
46
And you may cause them to inherit to your sons after you, to inherit as a possession. Perpetually you may serve through them. But over your brothers, the sons of Yisra’el, no ish shall rule over his brother with severity.
47
And if the hand of a sojourner or settler beside you becomes strong, and your brother beside him becomes poor and sells himself to a sojourner or settler beside you, or to the root of a family of a sojourner,
48
after he is sold, redemption shall remain for him. One of his brothers may redeem him,
49
or his uncle, or the son of his uncle may redeem him, or one from the flesh of his family, from his clan, may redeem him; or if his own hand becomes sufficient, he may redeem himself.
50
And he shall calculate with the one who acquired him from the year he sold himself to him until the year of Yovel, and the silver of his sale shall be according to the number of years. According to the days of a hired servant shall he be with him.
51
If there are still many years, according to them he shall return the price of his redemption from the silver of his purchase.
52
And if only a few years remain until the year of Yovel, then he shall calculate with him. According to his years he shall return the price of his redemption.
53
As a hired servant year by year he shall be with him. He shall not rule over him with severity before your eyes.
54
And if he is not redeemed by these means, then he shall go out in the year of Yovel, he and his sons with him.
55
For the sons of Yisra’el are servants to Me. They are My servants whom I brought out from the land of Mitzrayim. I am Yahuah your Elohim.
